The ChillSense Sensor is a compact, battery-powered wireless sensor designed to live inside (or right beside) the cold-chain assets you care about - fridges, freezers, cool rooms, display cabinets, and prep tables. It measures both temperature and humidity continuously and sends readings to a paired ChillSense Hub on a regular interval.
Sensors are designed to be moved, repaired, and replaced without specialist tools, so you can grow your monitoring footprint one asset at a time as your business changes.
What it does
- Measures temperature and humidity continuously inside or next to your cold-chain assets.
- Humidity readings are particularly useful for cool rooms storing produce, baked goods, or pharmaceuticals, where moisture matters as much as temperature.
- Sends readings wirelessly to a nearby ChillSense Hub at the same site.
- Runs on long-life batteries - no wiring, no drilling, no power lead near food.
- Survives the temperatures, condensation, and door-slamming you would expect inside a working cold-chain asset.
Technical highlights
- Power: long-life replaceable batteries (typical multi-month battery life under normal use). The dashboard warns you well before a sensor runs flat.
- Wireless: low-power radio link to any ChillSense Hub at the same site. Typical line-of-sight range easily covers a single kitchen or back-of-house area; metal racking, thick walls, or a freezer body can shorten that, in which case a second hub is the simplest fix.
- Operating environment: designed for refrigerators, freezers, and walk-in cool rooms. Cold and damp are normal operating conditions, not edge cases.
- Form factor: small enough to sit on a shelf or be tucked out of the way with the included mounting tab, without obstructing airflow.
What you'll need
- An active monitoring line that covers this sensor. Use the single-sensor Sensor Monitoring (1 Sensor) subscription; or, if you have multiple sensors at the same site, the 3-sensor, 6-sensor, and 12-sensor packs work out cheaper per sensor. Each subscription product offers both monthly and yearly billing - pick the cadence on its product page.
- A ChillSense Hub at the same site to pair with. You do not need a hub per sensor - one hub typically covers many sensors. Add another hub only when you need to extend coverage.
The easiest way to add a sensor to a site that is already running is the Sensor + Monitoring add-on - a re-order-friendly product that pairs with the matching 1-sensor monitoring subscription at checkout (or tops up an existing multi-sensor pack instead).
In the box
- 1 x ChillSense Sensor.
- Batteries (pre-installed or with a pull-tab to activate).
- Mounting tab for quick placement.
Setup at a glance
- Bring the sensor close to the target hub for first pairing.
- Activate the batteries (or pull the activation tab).
- Wait for the sensor to appear in your dashboard, name it after the asset it will monitor.
- Move the sensor to the asset and place it according to our placing sensors guide.
Replacing or moving a sensor
If a sensor is damaged, lost, or the asset it monitored is being decommissioned, swap in a replacement and re-pair from the dashboard - the historical readings for that asset are preserved against the asset, not the physical sensor.
Warranty and support
The ChillSense Sensor is covered by our standard 12-month replacement warranty. Day-to-day support is included for any site with an active monitoring subscription - see getting support.
